Water is the most essential natural resource on earth which gets contaminated by various human activities. Thus it becomes mandatory to develop some methods to protect this resource from pollution. Amongst methods available for treatment of polluted water, Advanced oxidation process dominates due to its cost effectiveness, less time consumption and complete mineralization of contaminants into biodegradable and eco-friendly products like CO2, NO2, N2, O2, H2O etc. The photocatalyst in the process acts as an intermediate and a catalyst for degradation of colouring pollutants, dye molecules, organic pesticides, inorganic contaminants etc. Presence of it reduces the threshold energy and provides a lower energy route to meet out the requirements for mineralization. The present work consists of preparation of a novel quaternary ZrCdPbO4 photocatalyst by coprecipitation method from its precursor nitrates. The synthesized photocatalyst is characterized by XRD, FESEM, UV-Vis-NIR, IR and EDX analysis etc methods.
